I am a tech nerd who understands people. Communication is my strength: I listen, translate business requirements into technology and make complex solutions clear to business units, IT and executive management alike. And then I build them myself. I used to be the architect, now I am the builder: with Agentic Coding I take AI applications from the first idea all the way to a hardened server.

Story

From aircraft to automation to Agentic Coding

One common thread runs through my career: understanding complex systems, making them reliable and automating them. First on aircraft from the F-104 to the Boeing 767, then in data centres, today with AI agents.

01Aircraft
  1. 1984 – 1988

    Training as an aircraft mechanic

    F-104 Starfighter and Tornado

    The foundation for everything that followed: maintaining fighter jets, where checklists, redundancy and zero tolerance for errors are part of everyday life.

  2. 1988 – 1989

    Technical college entrance qualification

    Fachoberschule Simmern

    A year of school between training and aviation: the technical college entrance qualification as a second pillar.

  3. from 1989

    Licensed aircraft maintenance engineer

    Lufthansa, German Cargo Airlines, Condor Cargo Technik

    Working on the DC-8, DC-10, Boeing 757 and Boeing 767, each with its own type licence. Responsibility for complex systems where every signature counts.

  4. 1997 – 2000

    Flight engineer for the Royal Family of Brunei

    Lufthansa, stationed in Brunei Darussalam

    Seconded by Lufthansa to Brunei with my Boeing 767 licence and travelled the whole world with the Royal Family as flight engineer. The highest standards of reliability, discretion and service.

    First computers, first HTML

    The road into IT

    Building computers myself and writing my first websites in HTML. From 2000, the passion became my profession.

02Automation
  1. 2000 – 2008

    From system administrator to Head of IT Services

    Lufthansa Flight Training GmbH

    Building and running networks, servers and virtualisation, later leading 17 IT staff: an MPLS backbone with eight sites worldwide, around 100 servers and 1,200 end devices. Member of the IT and IT security working groups of the Lufthansa Group.

  2. 2008 – 2009

    Head of IT

    Panthera Capital AG (CeFDex)

    Built the IT of a securities trading bank including its BaFin licence: a trading platform for several thousand concurrent users and a high-performance data centre with stock exchange connections.

  3. 2009 – 2014

    Director Solution Engineering

    IPsoft GmbH

    Solution architecture for the automated control of data centres, networks, operating systems, databases and applications at an international managed service provider. The forerunner of what is now called AI-driven IT automation.

  4. 2014 – 2023

    Member of the Management Board, Head of Service and CTO

    SYSback AG/GmbH

    Authorised signatory (Prokurist) with sole power of representation and member of the management board of an IT service provider with four locations. Led around 30 staff and transformed the company from systems integrator to managed service provider, up to its sale to Fulcrum Technology Group in 2020. Cloud services, service catalogue and first AI projects for IT automation.

    My own company in Sweden. I advise on AI applications and build them myself, with Agentic Coding, sovereign models and hardened infrastructure.

    Advising mid-sized and large companies on ServiceNow, with a focus on the platform’s AI capabilities such as Now Assist, AI Agents and Build Agent. From benefit analysis and business case to supporting the steering committee.

    Building the FutureSonar platform

    OW IT-Consulting AB

    My own SaaS platform that shows what companies and regions are really capable of: intelligent scraping of public sources, proven capabilities with quotes and semantic matching against mega and sub-trends. Built entirely with Agentic Coding, operated in the EU.

Why O15R? O15R stands for Olaf Windhaeuser: the first and the last letter, with 15 characters in between. Just as internationalisation becomes i18n.

Security and operations

An AI application is only finished when it runs securely. I harden servers, configure firewalls and reverse proxies, and set up monitoring, backups and intrusion detection. As a Certified Ethical Hacker, I think from the attacker’s perspective.

Sovereign and local AI

Not every company is allowed or willing to hand its data to US clouds. I build AI solutions with open-weight models in European data centres and continuously compare frontier and open-weight models so that performance and sovereignty go together. And where data must not leave the building at all, the AI runs locally: I work with Ollama on AMD Strix Halo (Ryzen AI Max+), a platform with up to 128 GB of memory shared between CPU and graphics. This lets even large language models with tens of billions of parameters run right at the desk, without the cloud and without per-request costs.

Compliance by design

For me, regulation is part of the architecture, not an afterthought. Requirements from DORA, NIS2, KRITIS, GDPR and the EU AI Act flow into consulting, design and implementation of modern applications from the start.

How I work

Formerly architect. Today builder.

Pre-sales is in my nature: understanding, explaining and selling complex solutions. For years I designed as an architect what others then built.

Agentic Coding has changed that. Because I know AI models very well and work with them like a team, I now deliver the solution myself: backend, web interface, database, deployment and server hardening.

I use Claude Code and Codex, and increasingly open-weight models running in European data centres or locally on Strix Halo. For many companies, digital sovereignty is no longer optional but mandatory.
